<p>PURPOSE: An air-conditioner and a control method thereof are provided to prevent the flow rate of the refrigerant of an indoor unit from being decreased by controlling the bypass of the refrigerant if an air-conditioner is operated under a low load in a cooling mode. CONSTITUTION: An air-conditioner comprises an outdoor unit connected to indoor units. The outdoor unit comprises a pressure detection part(10), a hot gas bypass valve(150), a controller(110), and a valve control part(140). The pressure detection part measures the pressure of refrigerant. The hot gas bypass valve bypasses a part of the refrigerant discharged from a compressor. The controller performs a hot gas control corresponding to the size of the low pressure measured by the pressure detection part and the load of one of the indoor units which is operating. The valve control part bypasses refrigerant by opening or closing the hot gas bypass valve corresponding to the control command of the controller.</p> |
