PURPOSE: A safety system of hybrid vehicle and a method for controlling the same are provided to safely treat overvoltage and excessive current and to prevent lifetime of a controller and driving system. CONSTITUTION: A safety system of hybrid vehicle comprises: a battery(108) storing a motor driving power; a power control unit(107) which operates a motor by the driving power of the battery; a protection device(110) which monitors current of driving power and stabilizes driving powder by dispersing and blocking driving power in the case of detecting abnormal current or voltage.
