PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a current capacity of a drive device by reducing a current required for magnetization. SOLUTION: A permanent magnet motor 21 has two or more kinds of permanent magnets 33, 34, having different characteristics, inside a rotor 24. A current is made to flow in each stator winding 37 by a drive device. One permanent magnet 34 is magnetized and demagnetized by a magnetic field generated by each winding 37 so as to make a magnetic-flux amount variable, thereby operating the permanent magnet motor. The permanent magnets 33, 34 are configured, by using a rare-earth magnet; and the thickness of one permanent magnet 34, making the magnetic-flux amount variable by being magnetized and demagnetized, is set smaller than that of the other permanent magnet 33 so as to reduce the coercive force.
