<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting insert exerting an excellent chip discharging property under a wide cutting condition. <P>SOLUTION: This insert 1 includes: an insert body having a top face 2, a bottom face 3 and a side face 4 crossing with the top face 2, and the bottom face 3; a cutting blade 6 having a corner cutting blade 61 positioned at a crossing part of the top face 2 and the side face 4 and positioned at a corner part 21 of a first side 22 and a second side 23 constituting the top face 2, and a first cutting blade 62 positioned on the first side 22; a rake face 5 positioned along the cutting blade 6 on the top face 2: and a protrusion part 7 positioned inward of the rake face 5 on the top face 2. The protrusion part 7 has a first face 71 inclined upward as it goes inward from the cutting blade 6; a second face 72 positioned higher than the first face 71 and inward of the first face 71 with the cutting blade 6 as a reference and inclined inward as it goes inward from the cutting blade 6; and a third face 73 positioned between the first face 71 and the second face 72.
