PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a noise reduction device having high effect of noise reduction processing in digital video signals, including pulse noise or noise spread over the entire screen. SOLUTION: The noise reduction device 1 includes a median filter group 11 for selecting the median of pixel values and outputting it as a candidate value by object pixel; a filter 13 for calculating a reference value which is the median or the average value of the candidate values; a comparison means 40 for successively comparing a signal level between the pixel value and the reference value by pixel of the video signals delayed in a delay means 30; and a selective addition/subtraction means 50 for defining the signal for which a level value is subtracted from the pixel value as an output signal, when it is determined that the pixel value of the video signal is larger than the median, defining the signal for which the level value is added to the pixel value as an output signal when it is determined that the pixel value is smaller than the median, and outputting the pixel value as an output signal, when it is determined that the pixel value is equal to the median.
