PURPOSE: A method for measuring the reduction amount of greenhouse gas through idle pause and an apparatus thereof are provided to accurately measure and store the reduction amount of the exhaustion of greenhouse gas on a real time basis for the time from the stop of an engine and the restart of the engine. CONSTITUTION: A method for measuring the reduction amount of greenhouse gas through idle pause comprises following steps. A measuring unit for consumed fuel measures first fuel amount consumed in an engine(S12). The measuring unit for consumed fuel measures the second fuel amount consumed for the restart of the suspended engine(S20). A greenhouse gas exhaustion reduction amount calculator calculates greenhouse gas exhaustion reduction amount for the time from the idle stop of a vehicle to the restart of the vehicle(S22).
