<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a supercharging system for an internal combustion engine for inhibiting pumping loss generated by rapid acceleration of the internal combustion engine (when the supercharger has not started yet) and a control method thereof. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine including the super charging system provided with a first intake air line 10 connecting the superchargers 4, 5, an intercooler 3, an intake manifold, and an intake port from an air cleaner 8, includes a second intake air line 11 connecting the air cleaner 8 to the intake air manifold or the intake air port through a valve device 12. The valve device 12 provide communication of the second intake line 12 when negative pressure is generated at the intake air port, and blocks the second intake air line 12 when supercharging is done by the superchargers 4, 5 and positive pressure is generated in the intake air port.
