摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a copolymer latex for chipping-resistant paint, which latex can materialize a water paint composition that prevents a thick film made therewith from being blistered when the thick film is baked/dried, allows a thin film made therewith to be excellent in chipping resistance when the thin film is baked/dried and has, in a well-balanced manner, both of adhesiveness to a base material and such a result that the applied water paint composition can be left as it is for a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: The copolymer latex for chipping-resistant paint is characterized in that the copolymer latex has 180-400 nm number-average particle diameter, the dried copolymer latex has 95-100 mass% toluene insoluble content, the mass ratio (the toluene swelling degree) of the toluene-swollen toluene insoluble content to the dried toluene insoluble content is 3.0-6.5, the glass transition starting temperature of the dried copolymer latex is within -70°C to -20°C and the glass transition ending temperature thereof is within 10-100°C. The method for producing the copolymer latex for chipping-resistant paint includes at least two steps of subjecting a mixture of monomers having specific ratios to emulsion polymerization under specific conditions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p>
