ENGINEERED PERTACTIN VARIANTS FOR VACCINE USE.

The invention relates to the field of biomedicine and comprises the engineering of the protein pertactin (Pm) in order to produce said protein for use in bacterial vaccines, specifically in acellular vaccines against Bordetella pertussis. The structure of the engineered pertactins contains the polymorphism of different strains and, when used as vaccines, said pertactins induce an antibody response with greater protective capacity and greater opsonophagocytic activity. Said engineered pertactin variants are suitable for use in human and veterinary medicine.
