802,709. Storing gases under pressure. LORENTZEN, H. L. July 18, 1956 [July 19, 1955], No. 22300/56. Class 8(2). [Also in Groups XXIX and XXXIII] A container in the form of a body of revolution, e.g. a spherical container for condensed gases, is secured to a support by a horizontal tubular link coaxial with the container and connected to the container and support at positions spaced along its length. The Figure shows in sectional elevation a spherical container 1 secured to a supporting structure 2 such as a ship's hull by means of a short cylindrical link 3 welded to a collar 6 on the container and hinged at 8 to the support, the hinge allowing for changes in container size due to temperature changes ; the hinge may be hollow and fluid-filled to regulate its temperature. |
