<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excellent pressure sensor comprising a flexible material, formed with a favorite shape, and inexpensively manufactured. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The pressure sensor 10 includes: a light guiding optical pipe 11 on an elastic gel; a light emitting section 12 formed with a LED for emitting a light at one end of the optical pipe 11; and a light receiving section 13 formed with a Cds cell for detecting the light through the optical pipe 11 at the other end of the optical pipe 11. A mechanism measures a pressure based on a change in the quantity of transmitted light due to a deformation of the optical pipe. The guided light is not affected by a temperature change, so that the sensor reduces a fluctuation in a temperature characteristic, and is hardly affected by a noise.
