<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite bead capable of decreasing contamination. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The composite bead is prepared by adding a second component as a main component to Y<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, maintains chemical solubility to a mineral acid, and has an X-ray diffraction pattern identically similar to cubic or monoclinic Y<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>.
