The issue is to provide an organic waste treatment system with which the organic waste treatment load that occurs because of variation in the amount of organic waste generated can be distributed, and the organic waste can be treated efficiently at low cost. For this purpose, a low-cost organic waste treatment system is provided so that the organic waste treatment load variation to which a first treatment tank (1) is subjected is distributed in a balanced manner, and the first treatment tank (1) does not have to be designed for the maximum amount of organic waste treatment processing, by configuring so that at least the most upstream tank (21) of a second treatment tank (2) can be switched from an aerobic state to an anaerobic state, or from an anaerobic state to an aerobic state, based on the fermentation time setting value for methane fermentation treatment by the first treatment tank (1).
