<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure cooker whose inner pressure does not reach a high pressure in a state in which a pot lid is not completely closed to a pot body. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the pressure cooker, a pressure valve device 4 includes: a three-step switching mechanism 8 which allows switching among three functions, a low pressure retaining function, high pressure retaining function, and pressure releasing function; and a change-over switch 9 for the three-step switching mechanism 8, and a rotation lock mechanism 7 of the pot lid 3 associates with the change-over switch 9. When the pot lid 3 is attached to an upper opening 2 of the pot body 1 to enable a closed locked state, and the low pressure retaining function or high pressure retaining function is selected and operated by the change-over switch 9, the rotation lock mechanism 7 rotates and locks the pot lid 3 in association with the change-over switch. When the pressure releasing function is selected and operated by the change-over switch 9, the rotation lock mechanism 7 releases the rotated and locked pot lid 3 by interlocking with the change-over switch.
