<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for appropriately adjusting an image without excessively imposing an operation burden on a microscope user. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An automatic adjustment method for a microscope image for automatically adjusting brightness of the microscope image formed of a plurality of pixels, includes: a pixel discrimination step in which an observation pixel (cells 1) to be an observation object in an image is discriminated from non-observation pixels (background 2) not to be an observation object, on the basis of the brightness of each pixel; a representative value determination step in which a representative value for the brightness of the image is determined on the basis of the brightness of a selected pixel identified as an observation pixel (cell 1); and an image adjustment step in which the brightness of the image is adjusted on the basis of the representative value.
