PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a battery which shortens the discharge time while preventing breakage of the battery when discharging the battery. SOLUTION: The discharge device has a load part which is connected between first and second terminals respectively connected to a positive electrode and a negative terminal of a secondary battery pack, a measurement part, and a control part. For example, a discharge period is divided into a first period and a second period which is the period after the first period and in which a lower discharge current than that of the first period is made to flow. The measurement part measures the voltage between the positive electrode and the negative electrode of the battery block constituted of at least two of a plurality of secondary battery cells which constitute the secondary battery pack in the discharge period. The control unit determines whether or not the polarity inversion occurs at least one at the plurality of secondary battery cells based on the voltage measured and generates the control signal based on the result. At the load part which receives the control signal, the discharge current is switched between the first period and the second period.
