Disclosed is an information processing device comprising: an unknown-word detecting means that detects unknown words that have not been registered in bilingual dictionary data of a first language and a second language from among character information input in the first language; a paraphrasing means that, based on a database composed by associating various words of the first language, acquires words associated with the unknown word as candidate paraphrasing words, which are candidate synonyms for the unknown word; a translation determining means that translates the candidate paraphrasing words registered in the bilingual dictionary data into the second language based on the translating dictionary data and defines the translated results as translations of the unknown word; and a translating means that translates the character information input in the first language into the second language based on both the bilingual dictionary data and the translated results from the translation determining means.
