PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video recording apparatus for effectively utilizing a recording medium in accordance with use. SOLUTION: A video recording apparatus 6 captures video data, obtained by imaging an area to be monitored, at fixed time intervals and includes a first recording medium 64 and a second recording medium 65 for recording captured video data thereon. A CPU 62 causes the captured video data to be recorded on the first recording medium 64 at first recording intervals according to a first recording program 632 and recorded on the second recording medium at second recording intervals longer than the first recording intervals according to a second recording program 633.
