<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To refine molten iron using an inexpensive heat source in place of expensive temperature-raising material such as conventional carbonaceous material and ferrosilicon, in oxidation refining of the molten iron by supplying oxygen gas or iron oxide into the molten iron. <P>SOLUTION: When the molten iron is refined by supplying the oxygen source into the molten iron 6 housed in a treating vessel 8, used refractory including non-oxide based silicon compound and/or carbon, is supplied in the treating vessel to utilize the used refractory as the heat source. In this case, it is desirable that the total content of the non-oxide based silicon compound and the carbon content in the used refractory is≥6 mass%, and that the used refractory is monolithic refractory and the molten iron is refined in a converter. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
