PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric kettle readily operated by one hand when supplying hot water where a kettle body is tilted to pour hot water, and quickly starting to supply hot water. SOLUTION: The electric kettle includes a valve mechanism 20 for preventing hot-water from flowing out of the body 7 through a spout 9, and a hot-water supply-operating portion 14 for operating the valve mechanism 20. The hot-water supply-operating portion 14 is provided at a handle 10, and the valve mechanism 20 for preventing the hot water from flowing out of the body 7 through the spout 9, is provided between the spout 9 and the hot-water supply-operating portion 14 so as to be near the spout when viewed from above.
