PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for applying swirling to a molten metal flow where a molten metal is swirled in a pouring tube, and the jumping-up of the molten metal can be prevented while strengthening a purification action. SOLUTION: In the method for applying swirling to a molten metal flow where, upon pouring a molten metal into a vessel, a dome blade is installed at the upper part of an inside diameter-reduced part in a pouring tube made of a refractory and provided with a body part and the inside diameter-reduced part, swirling is applied to a molten metal passing through the blades of the dome blade, and the flow rate of the swirling flow of the molten metal is increased in the inside diameter-reduced part of the pouring tube located in the downstream side of the blades. The dome blade is composed of a refractory having a shape of being provided with a plurality of blades at the dome part of the central part and the peripheral part thereof. The angle formed between the blades and the horizontal plane reduces from the upper part toward the lower part, and also, the cross-sectional area in the horizontal transverse section of the flow passage of the molten metal formed between the adjoining blades or the like reduces as well.
