<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle engine the water temperature sensor of which is protected against incoming foreign matters including earth, sand and flying stones without taking an exclusive protection means. Ž<P>SOLUTION: There is provided a vehicle engine E which is mounted on a vehicle body frame F with a cylinder 23 allowed to erect and in a head 23h of the cylinder 23, is mounted with a water temperature sensor 50 for detecting the water temperature of a water jacket 46. On one side of the head of the cylinder 23, a sensor mounting hole 47 is provided which opens to a portion just beneath an upstream end opening 40 of an intake port 31. The water temperature sensor 50 is mounted in the sensor mounting hole 47. A pair of right and left hanger bosses 52, 52 are formed at the head 23h of the cylinder 23, which sandwich the water temperature sensor 50 and face each other.
