PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an embossing method capable of easily transferring a fine irregularity design on the leather-like sheet surface of synthetic leather material without using a mold, using a mold cloth having weaving pattern of cloth itself and embroidery pattern or the like ex-post facto applied, irrespective of the kind of cloth, or the size of thickness or hole diameter of yarn. SOLUTION: In the embossing method, a leather-like sheet is heated from its back surface when transferring the pattern of the mold cloth to the leather-like sheet by compressing with an upper and lower plate press. The transfer pattern surface of the mold cloth is mounted upward on the press lower plate, the surfaceαto be transferred of the leather-like sheet is overlapped on the pattern surface, and pressed by the heated press upper plate and a non directly heated press lower plate.
