<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base material deodorizing and coating method for absorbing, shutting off, or concealing the odor of a base material without impairing the humidity conditioning performance or the like, which the base material has, to create a desirable indoor environment, and also to provide a wood fiber plate and a wood panel using the method. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In the deodorizing and coating method, a deodorizing humidity-conditioning composition, composed mainly of 20-50 wt.% of a moisture absorbing and desorbing material and 10-40 wt.% of a resin-based binder which are dispersed in water to make 100 wt.% in total, is applied to at least either of the front and rear faces of the base material.
