<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To directly and firmly join resin to rubber without using an adhesive. <P>SOLUTION: The composite material with a resin member and a vulcanized rubber member directly joined is obtained by combining the vulcanized rubber member vulcanized with a radical generating agent (e.g. an organic peroxide), with the resin member composed of thermoplastic resin having at least two hydrogen atoms or sulfur atoms, on average, per molecule, each atom having an orbital interaction energy coefficient S of 0.006 or more and represented by the following formula (1): S=(C<SB>HOMO, n</SB>)<SP>2</SP>/¾Ec-E<SB>HOMO, n</SB>¾+(C<SB>LUMO, n</SB>)<SP>2</SP>/¾Ec-E<SB>LUMO, n</SB>¾, wherein Ec: an orbital energy (eV) of a radical, C<SB>HOMO, n</SB>: a molecular-orbital coefficient of a highest occupied molecular orbit (HOMO) of an n-th hydrogen atom constituting a basic unit of the resin, E<SB>HOMO, n</SB>: orbital energy (eV) of the HOMO, C<SB>LUMO, n</SB>: a molecular-orbital coefficient of a lowest unoccupied molecular orbit (LUMO) of the n-th hydrogen atom, and E<SB>LUMO, n</SB>: orbital energy (eV) of the LUMO, which are values computed by a semiempirical molecular orbital method MOPACPM3. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
