An axial-flow compressor comprises a stator blade adjusting mechanism including a reciprocable actuator which is connected at one end to the casing for movement of its opposite end in a plane generally normal to the rotor axis, and an axially extending shaft having a number of radially extending lever arms, one of which is connected to the movable end of the actuator while the others are connected by linkage each to a row of pivotable stator blades. The blades of each row of adjustable stator blades are connected by levers 24 to an actuating ring 22, each ring 22 being connected by a link 30 to a lever 32 projecting from a shaft 28 which is journelled in spherical self-aligning bearings in brackets 34. The shaft 28 is rotated by means of an actuator 38 having its cylinder pivotally attached to a bracket 42 and its piston rod 40 connected to a lever 36 projecting from the shaft 28. The links 30 are preferably in the form of turnbuckles. Ball and socket joints are preferably used at each end of each link 30 and at each end of the actuator 38.</p> |
