<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spark-ignition internal combustion engine suppressing generation of unburned hydrocarbon accompanied by introduction of EGR gas. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This spark-ignition internal combustion engine includes: a first intake port 8 and a second intake port 9 respectively opened in a cylinder 2; an ignition plug 14 arranged in the cylinder 2; an EGR device 15 introducing a part of exhaust gas in an exhaust passage 6 to the first intake port 8 in a limited way as the EGR gas; a first fuel injection valve 18 injecting fuel to the first intake port 8; a second fuel injection valve 19 injecting fuel to the second intake port 9; and an ECU 20 controlling the first fuel injection valve 18 so that fuel injection to the first intake port 8 is stopped until a predetermined period T1 elapses from the closing of the intake valve 10 of the first intake port 8 in an intake stroke and fuel is injected to the first intake port 8 after lapse of the predetermined time T1.
