A foldable motor-cycle comprises a frame 10 with a head 9 in which is rotatably mounted a tubular member 4, the member 4 pivotally mounting at 12, at its upper end, handle-bars 1, and pivotally mounting at 16, at its lower end, a front wheel assembly 5-7, and wherein a footrest 29 is pivotable at 28 between an in use position, Fig. 1, and an out-of-use position, Fig. 2, the latter position allowing the front wheel assembly to be folded anti-clockwise into the frame 10, and the cycle also consisting of a seat 32 mounted on the engine by two pairs of foldable supports 33, 34 and two struts 43. Springs urge the seat to its in-use position and stops at the upper end of supports 33, 34 prevents its collapse until a force in the direction 50 is applied to supports 34. The handlebars and front wheel assembly are held in the in-use position by a rod 19 passing through member 4, which rod at its lower end has the male portion of a bayonet fitting adapted to engage the female portion on front forks 5, and at its top end has a screw-thread adapted to be engaged by a nut 24 mounted on the handlebars. A lever extending from the top end of rod 19 actuates the bayonet fitting. The hand grips 2 in their out-of-use position are pivoted towards the longitudinal axis of the cycle.</p> |
