The method involves evaluating a signal of a pedal value sensor by an evaluation unit (9), and providing appropriate information of a feed pump (7) derived from the evaluated signal. The feed pump is controlled for loosening of a wheel brake (5) during operation of a brake pedal (1) such that a low pressure is produced in a hydraulic brake system of a vehicle, where the pressure causes lifting of a brake lining from a friction surface of the brake. A pedal path or change of the pedal path of the brake pedal is provided for controlling the feed pump.
