<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rockfall preventing method and a rockfall preventing apparatus capable of obtaining a stable energy absorbing effect by pressingly connecting buffer wire rod parts of rockfall preventing wire rods almost uniformly. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The rockfall preventing method comprises providing a plurality of rockfall preventing wire rods 3 such as rope members or a net on an inclined face 1 to cover the inclined face 1, and connecting the rockfall preventing wire rods 3 to fixtures 4, 4A, 5 provided on the ground. The rockfall preventing wire rod 3 is provided with a buffer implement 11 allowing the buffer wire rod part 3Y of the rockfall preventing wire rod 3 to slide at the occurrence of tension of a predetermined value or more. The buffer implement 11 is pressingly connected to the buffer wire rod part 3Y from three or more directions. The buffer wire rod part is not deformed flatly like from conventional two upper and lower directions, and the buffer wire rod part 3Y can be uniformly held. When tension of the predetermined value or more occurs to the buffer wire rod part 3Y, frictional resistance force is almost uniformly generated on the surface of the buffer wire rod part 3Y to exhibit the stable energy absorbing effect.
