<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock-absorbing material which holds a packed item stored in a packing box without fail, even if an external force, such as, a vibration during transportation is applied. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This shock-absorbing material, which is integrally formed using one panel shaped member, is provided with a side face center part 11, with two side face parts 12 being jointed with the two parallel sides of the center part 11 by folding lines 29 and a top face part 13 jointed with the top end of the side face center part 11 by a folding line 50. The top face part 13 is formed with a contact part 15 which comprises a fold back line 16 and a cut groove 14 and expanding toward a tip end 51 from the line 16 and a catching hole 18 matching the shape of the end part 17 of the contact part 15. When the part 15 is folded back on the line 16 to insert the end part 17 of the part 15 in the hole 18 and the part 13 is folded along the line 50, it contacts the neighborhood of the curved top face 2c of a roughly rectangular parallelepiped packed item 2. In this way, even if an external force, such as, vibration during transportation is applied, the fold of the part 15 will not be released, and the item 2 stored can be held in a packing box 1.
