PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric vacuum cleaner which simplifies a user process for removing dust at a dust collecting section without reducing the dust collecting efficiency of a filter by removing static electricity and dust at the dust collecting section owing to a swirl flow for separating dust. SOLUTION: All or a part of a section which comes in contact with the dust sucked in a dust box 6 is composed of a conductive substance. The electrically-charged dust and the part which comes in contact with the dust in the dust box 6 can be neutralized by electrically connecting them to a commercial power source 27. Adhesion of dust to a surface that comes in contact with the dust inside a dust collecting chamber 11 can be prevented and the dust can be easily discarded because the dust is easily removed from the dust collecting chamber when the user discards the dust inside the dust collecting chamber 11.
