<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel having a transparent electrode formed by burning a dispersion liquid containing metal fine particles or metal oxide fine particles, wherein the plasma display panel has less variation in discharge characteristics of each discharge cell and can display high-quality images; and to provide a method for producing the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A scan electrode 22 comprises scan bus electrodes 221a, 222a and a scan transparent electrode 22b. A sustain electrode 23 comprises sustain bus electrodes 231a, 232a and a sustain transparent electrode 23b. The scan bus electrode 221a and the sustain bus electrode 231a are formed on a front substrate 21, respectively, to form a discharge gap. The scan transparent electrode 22b is formed in such a manner that its outer edge portion on the discharge gap side overlaps the scan bus electrode 221a, and the sustain transparent electrode 23b is formed in such a manner that its outer edge portion on the discharge gap side overlaps the sustain bus electrode 231a, by using a dispersion liquid containing metal fine particles or metal oxide fine particles.
