<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode assembly and a lithium secondary battery using the same, which can prevent an internal short circuit and damage that could be caused by heat generation at an electrode. <P>SOLUTION: The electrode assembly includes: a first electrode plate 110 having uncoated portions 113A, 113B on both ends of a collector 111, which are not coated with an active material; a second electrode plate 120 having uncoated portions 123A, 123B on both ends of a collector 121, which are not coated with the active material; a separator 130 interposed between the first and second electrode plates; a first electrode tab 140 provided at the outermost surface of the first electrode plate; and a second electrode tab 150 provided at the outermost surface of the second electrode plate.
