PURPOSE: A portable terminal and a control method thereof capable of various operation controls by displaying a haptic effect as an image are provided to visually recognize the haptic effect by expressing a pattern, a generation place, a movement direction and a movement speed by haptic signal. CONSTITUTION: A controller confirms the generation of a haptic signal(S10). The controller displays a pattern of tactile sense effect by the haptic signal, a moving direction and a moving speed as an image(S15). Controller indicates image in the display region(S20). The controller confirms the change of the haptic signal(S25). If the haptic signal is completed, the controller deletes the image from the display region(S30).
