PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for processing a signal of an image display device are provided to change EDID, thereby transmitting data of a lower version suitably for resolution that an interface cable supports from an HDMI(High Definition Multimedia Interface) input device. CONSTITUTION: An HDMI signal determining unit(27) performs EDID(Extended Display Identification Data) communication with an HDMI input device connected through a cable. If an HDMI signal is inputted from the HDMI input device, the HDMI signal determining unit determines a state of the HDMI signal. An EDID controller(28) displays data inputted from the HDMI input device on a screen according to whether the HDMI signal is stably outputted. The EDID controller changes contents of the EDID and sets it. |
