<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering a cell or a virus, which simply and efficiently recovers a cell or a virus while maintaining its biological activity. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The method for recovering a cell or a virus comprises isolating a cell or virus 2 attached to the surface of a carrier 1 having at least the vicinity of the surface constituted mainly of a calcium phosphate-based compound from the carrier 1 and recovering it, and bringing a recovery solution 400 containing a protein having higher affinity to the carrier 1 than that of the cell or virus 2 into contact with the carrier 1 to which the cell or virus 2 is attached and isolating the cell or virus 2 in the recovery solution 400 to recover the cell or the virus 2.
