<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a visual inspection method and a device therefor with an inspection speed increased by performing conveyance and inspection of an object to be inspected in one process. Ž<P>SOLUTION: According to the visual inspection method, the object to be inspected is moved along a circular track and laser light is applied to both end faces of the object on the move by projecting the laser light onto a fixed position on the circular track to detect reflected light from the respective end faces. Acquired displacement values of the respective end faces are compared with a previously set reference value to determine whether it is within a prescribed allowance while inspecting one of the length size of the object, the surface roughness of the end faces, and the shapes of the end faces, or a combination of them. A movement means 8 causes the object to move along the circular track. A displacement meter 10 applies laser light to both end faces of the object on the move to detect its reflected light.
