<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To emit light of uniform luminance toward an electro-optical panel in a direct lighting system by devising the layout structure of light sources. <P>SOLUTION: The lighting system, which is a so-called direct lighting system, includes a plurality of light sources and a substrate for holding them. The plurality of light sources include a reference light source which emits light in the normal direction of the substrate. Each light source is arranged, for example, in a matrix relative to one side of the substrate. The reference light sources are arranged in a central area on one surface of the substrate. The angle formed between the main light-emitting direction of light emitted from each light source and the main light-emitting direction of light from the reference light source is gradually increased from the reference light source toward the outer side. Accordingly, the light emitted from each light source is gradually increased from the reference light source toward the outer side. As a result, the luminance of the outer circumferential part of a liquid crystal display panel can be raised, and the luminance unevenness between the center part of a display area of the liquid crystal display panel and the outer circumferential part of the display area can be reduced to uniform the luminance in the display area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
