The projector (5) has a light source (10) e.g. laser diode, for producing an image to be projected by an image-transmitting element (12) e.g. movable mirror. A projection optic (20) displays the images to be projected, and an image stabilizer (30) reduces blurring of the image to be projected. A set of gyroscopic sensors (40, 42) is coupled with the image stabilizer. The projection optic comprises lens elements, which are adjusted based on the signals of the gyroscopic sensors. The image-transmitting element comprises a storage device (50) for storing the image to be projected. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a hand projector.
