<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel direct-injection engine minimizing the remainder of unused air by adequately mixing fuel mainly and subsidiarily injected by a fuel injector with air in a cavity. Ž<P>SOLUTION: At a main injection colliding point P1m on a fuel injection axis Li1 when performing main injection near the top dead center of a piston 13, a main injection colliding angle α1m formed by the tangential line and the fuel injection axis Li1 is set to be an obtuse angle. Thus, fuel colliding with the main injection colliding point P1m is deflected mainly to the side of the opening end of the cavity 25 to minimize the remainder of unused air above the cavity 25. At a sub injection colliding point P1s on the fuel injection axis Li1 when performing main injection at a position where a piston 13 is apart from the top dead center, a sub injection colliding angle α1s formed by the tangential line and the fuel injection axis Li1 is set to be a right or acute angle. Thus, fuel colliding with the sub injection colliding point P1s is deflected mainly to the circumferential direction of the cavity 25 to minimize the remainder of unused air in a space from the adjacent fuel injection axis Li1.
