Ž<P>SOLUTION: This spindle device 1 for rotating a tool A by a rotating shaft 20 includes a motor 21 installed in a housing 10 and driving the rotating shaft 20, an air bearing 22 rotatably supporting the rotating shaft 20 in the housing 10, a rotating flange 23 which is formed at the opening section B of the housing 10, which has the gap D formed between itself and the housing 10 and allowing the inside of the housing 10 to communicate with the outside, which is rotatable by the rotating shaft 20, and to which the tool A is fixed, air introduction sections 50, 52 for introducing a cooling air for cooling the motor 21 into the housing 10, and an air flow passage 60 for supplying the cooling air supplied into the housing 10 to the gap D and flowing out the cooling air from the gap D to the outside.
