<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel injection pump forcibly recovering lubricating oil stored in a tappet to a gear case. Ž<P>SOLUTION: In this fuel injection pump 1, the tappet 12 is mounted in a lower part of a plunger 7, a cam 6 is arranged to abut on a lower surface of the tappet 12, and fuel oil is forcibly fed by reciprocating the plunger 7 by rotating the cam 6. The fuel injection pump 1 is provided with a communication hole 51 for communicating a tappet chamber 15 for storing the tappet 12 with the outside of a pump housing 2 provided with the tappet chamber 15.
