PURPOSE: A method and a communication system for controlling a home appliance using a mobile device are provided to make users conveniently control a home appliance through the mobile device. CONSTITUTION: A home appliance(3) has a screen. The home appliance transmits an audio signal to a mobile device(1). A video image is selected on a part of a screen(30). The home appliance displays the selected video image. The mobile device outputs an aural signal corresponding to the received audio signal. The mobile device selects the video image. The mobile device controls the home appliance to display the selected video image on the screen of the home appliance.
