<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens system, having a compactly constructed focusing lens group and a small change in the image magnification when the focusing lens group moves. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The zoom lens system includes a first lens group having positive optical power, a second lens group having negative optical power and at least three subsequent lens groups, in order from the object side, wherein the at least three subsequent lens groups include a lens group A having negative optical power and a lens group B arranged on the image side relative to the lens group A and having positive optical power. In zooming, all lens groups move in a direction along the optical axis so that intervals between the lens groups vary, and in focusing, the lens group A moves in a direction along the optical axis.
