Disclosed is a method for extending a bridge domain of a first overlay software-defined networking (SDN) network to a second overlay SDN network by using a relay device. A method for extending a bridge domain of an overlay SDN network according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: registering a relay switch of a relay device as a switch included in first and second overlay SDN networks; generating tunnels connecting the relay switch with switches included in the first overlay SDN network; generating tunnels connecting the relay switch with switches included in the second overlay SDN network; receiving information about a path for connection from a first SDN control unit of the first overlay SDN network to a virtual machine (VM) belonging to a first SDN network; converting the information about the path; and transmitting the converted information about the path to a second SDN control unit.
