A transmitter communicating with a receiver is provided with a first hopping sequence generating section for generating a hopping sequence in which a sub-carrier interval for hopping becomes not more than a predetermined threshold on the basis of a cell ID, a first reference signal pattern generating section for generating a reference signal pattern on the basis of a reference signal basic pattern composed of a predetermined known signal sequence and the hopping sequence generated by the first hopping sequence generating section, an arrangement section for arranging a reference signal and a data symbol at a predetermined position in the symbol on the basis of the reference signal pattern generated by the first reference signal pattern generating section, and a signal transmitting section for transmitting the symbol in which the arrangement section has arranged the reference signal and the data symbol to the receiver.
