PURPOSE: A fire-retardant and self-extinguishing polyimide modified polyol composition and a synthesis method thereof are provided to prevent the degradation of mechanical properties by adding flame retardant. CONSTITUTION: A method for synthesizing fire-retardant and self-extinguishing polyimide modified polyol composition comprises the following steps of: allowing acid anhydride to react to polyisocyanate prepolymer of halogenated glycol or halogenated polyester; and addition-reacting to 2 mole alkylene oxide. The molecular weight of the polyimide modified polyol is 300-10000. The acid anhydride includes two or more carboxyl groups. The halogenated glycol is selected from the group consisting of dibromoneopentyl glycol, dibromopropylene glycol, dibromoethylene glycol, dibromobutylene glycol, dibromohexanediol, dichloroneopentyl glycol, dichloropropylene glycol, dichloroethylene glycol, dichlorobutylene glycol, dichlorohexanediol, and glycerol beta mono chlorohydrine.
