<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backup circuit for reducing loss due to a limit resistor and switching loss and reducing power consumption as a whole. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The backup circuit includes a backup capacitor C2 accumulating power supplied to a load, charging circuits L1, CR1 and S1 formed of voltage boosting chopper circuits boosting voltage from an input power supply Vin and charging the backup capacitor, a control circuit U1 controlling a switching operation of the charging circuits and control voltage circuits R1, C1 and VR1 which intermittently supply power to the control circuit so as to intermittently operate it.
