<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric oscillator and a real time clock which improve the frequency stability of an oscillation signal being outputted while reducing power consumption. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A piezoelectric oscillator 10 includes an oscillation circuit 14 connected with a piezoelectric vibrator 12 and outputting an oscillation signal, an output switching section 16 for receiving the oscillation signal and switching whether the oscillation signal is outputted or not based on a control signal for choosing whether the oscillation signal is outputted or not, and a load capacity variable circuit 20 connected with the oscillation circuit 14 and reducing the load capacity as compared with that when the oscillation signal is outputted in response to a control signal for not outputting the oscillation signal.
